Nunukan Island Resort is located on a private island at the outer reef of Maratua Atoll, approx. 60km east of the Indonesian state East-Kalimantan in the middle of the Celebes Sea.
Starting from 30 September 2017, the resort can be reached by plane directly from Balikpapan! The exclusive Extradivers charter flights are operated by Garuda Indonesia’s ATR-72 aircraft with 65 seats, directly from Balikpapan to Maratua and back. Both the arrival and departure charter flights are scheduled on Saturday afternoon only. On your arrival, you will be picked up from the Maratua Airport to Maratua Harbour for the boat transfer to Nabucco Island, and it takes approx. 20 minutes only. Boat and taxi transfers are also included on your way back to the airport.
Accommodation
The resort was built in 2008. The island is about four acres and has 22 bungalows which are built in traditional style. All bungalows are located directly on a white sand beach. All rooms have sea view and are equipped with a four-poster bed with mosquito net, air-conditioning, mini bar, safety box, veranda with a large day bed for relaxing, hot & cold water shower and toilet. From the covered but open bathroom, guests can enjoy the breathtaking views over the turquoise lagoon. The resort provides hand, shower and beach towels in each room. For sun lovers, beach chairs are waiting in front of the bungalows. The resort has 24 hour electricity and uses 220V sockets.
Facilities
The restaurant is built on three levels connected by small wooden bridges. It is located on the northeast side of the island. During the delicious meals you have a wonderful view over the sea. Breakfast and lunch are served "a la carte". Dinner is served as a 5-course meal. The meals are a fantastic fusion of International and local Indonesian cuisine. The jungle bar partly surrounded by trees was built next to the restaurant. It is a meeting point in the evening for a tropical cocktail or a beer.
Activities
Besides some fabulous diving, guests can immerse themselves in a state of absolute relaxation and get pampered with a nice traditional massage. At the massage house, there is also a little saltwater pool with a beautiful view of the lagoon.
Village visits, cooking classes, snorkelling on the house reef just off the jetty, beach volleyball, or just relaxing and reading are some of the most popular activities. An amazing adventure is a trip to the jellyfish lake at Kakaban. After a small trek, guests can snorkel with the non-stingy jellies in the brackish water.
Staying Connected
24h WiFi is available at the reception area with a comfortable seating lounge. It is not a highspeed signal, but steady - good enough for Whatsapp and Emails.

The resort does not have credit card facilities. All incidentals must be paid in cash. The resort accepts USD, EUR and IDR.
