Nabucco Island Resort is located on a private island at the outer reef of Maratua Atoll, approx. 60km east of the Indonesian state East-Kalimantan in the middle of the Celebes Sea.
Starting from 30 September 2017, the resort can be reached by plane directly from Balikpapan! The exclusive Extradivers charter flights are operated by Garuda Indonesia’s ATR-72 aircraft with 65 seats, directly from Balikpapan to Maratua and back. Both the arrival and departure charter flights are scheduled on Saturday afternoon only. On your arrival, you will be picked up from the Maratua Airport to Maratua Harbour for the boat transfer to Nabucco Island, and it takes approx. 20 minutes only. Boat and taxi transfers are also included on your way back to the airport.
Accommodation
The resort offers eight double bungalows duplex-style and one single bungalow, all built with natural, local materials. Around the island are a few little beaches where guests can swim and sunbathe during high tide. The exotic resort combines the magic of nature and a family atmosphere.
Each spacious waterfront bungalow features a large roofed terrace with lazy chairs and direct access to the beach. Two of the bungalows are nestled in a tropical garden, surrounded by coconut trees and lush vegetation. All rooms have air conditioning and a ceiling fan, mini-bar, mosquito net, balcony, open bathroom with hot & cold water shower and toilet. The resort has 24 hour electricity and uses 220V sockets.
Facilities
The airy and roomy restaurant is constructed on stilts directly over the sea. While enjoying delicious meals, your eyes can feast on fantastic views of Maratua Atoll. In the evening, the starry sky over the Sulawesi Sea is the perfect ambience to enjoy the freshly prepared five-course dinner. Breakfast and lunch are served "a la carte".
The bar is situated on a small cliff, overlooking the sea. This is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset and the moonrise while having a cocktail with friends and other guests. The bar is equipped with a satellite TV and DVD player to watch the highlights of the day.
Activities
Besides some fabulous diving, guests can immerse themselves in a state of absolute relaxation and get pampered with a nice traditional massage. Village visits, cooking classes, snorkelling or just relaxing and reading are some of the most popular activities. An amazing adventure is a trip to the jellyfish lake at Kakaban. After a small trek, guests can snorkel with the non-stingy jellies in the brackish water.
Staying Connected
24h Internet (via satellite) and WiFi is available in the longhouse / mini shop with seating area provided. It is not a highspeed signal, may not be very steady all the times.

The resort does not have credit card facilities. All incidentals must be paid in cash. The resort accepts USD, EUR and IDR.
We think...
Nabucco Island is for divers. Dive boats are well equipped and fast. Staff is excellent. Food great. Bungalows are large and comfy. It’s simply paradise off the beaten track!
