Nabucco Island ResortMaratua Atoll

Extra Divers Nabucco
Nabucco’s dive centre ‘Extra Divers’ is situated at the resort’s jetty. It offers up to 3 dives per day. After a single boat dive, the boat usually returns to the dive centre. Further afield dive trips offer 2 or 3 dives. The boat rides to the dive sites are around 10-60 minutes. The local dive guides, who are well trained by resort management, know the area as their own home.
Dive Service
The dive centre is equipped with dive equipment from Aqualung (BCD, reg, mask and fins). It also offers 70 x 12L aluminum tanks with DIN valves, Suunto dive computers and 3mm wetsuits.

Nitrox is available. Advanced notice should be given to the dive centre if you wish to dive on Nitrox. A surcharge of EUR 6.00/tank applies.

A full range of SSI courses in English and German are available. Advance notification must be provided.
Dive Boats
The dive centre offers 3 modern dive boats made of fibreglass. Each boat is powered by 2 engines between 70 and 150 HP Yamaha/Suzuki. The dive boats transport divers to the dive sites safely and quickly. On every boat, you will find oxygen, a first aid kit, and mobile phone or radio.
Dive areas
The dive sites around Maratua Atoll are remarkable for their colourful walls and channels. Only 10 minutes by boat from Nabucco Island is “Big Fish Country”, a flow channel where divers can experience eagle rays, sharks and huge schools of barracudas. The big highlight is Sangalaki Island, with beautiful coral gardens and nearly year round manta ray sightings. Another highlight is Kakaban with the unique jellyfish lake. The most northern and southern dive sites of Maratua Atoll are also dived regularly.
Maratua Atoll: The dive sites around Nabucco are captivating due to their biodiversity and the nutrient rich currents coming from the Pacific Ocean. Most dive sites consist of an intact reef roof and drop offs. Our highlight, "the Channel", also well known as "Big Fish Country", is one of the best dive sites in Borneo. Due to the strong currents you can see a startling array of pelagic fish.

Kakaban: Seventy percent of the island of Kakaban is comprised of a brackish water lake, surrounded by a slim strip of dense jungle. During your surface interval, you have the extraordinary opportunity to snorkel with different kinds of non-stinging Jelly Fish. At "Barracuda Point" divers frequently see reef sharks, leopard sharks, and a big school of barracudas. With a little luck you might even see a hammerhead shark.
